West Cliffs was established in 2016, drawing from a mutual love of heavy piano/synth music. In 2017, we released our first E.P. and embarked on a 7-week North American tour. After returning home, we were faced with an uncertain future. Garin was at the climax of his substance addiction and ultimately fighting for his life. Unsure of whether or not Garin would return to the band, Sean and Brit decided to continue writing. We released a single in 2018 titled, “PHANTASMA”, without live drumming. Shortly after the release, Brit lost her father and the band was completely put on hold. Two years later, Sean and Brit found themselves in Bend, OR writing music. At the same time, Garin was in his home town of Santa Cruz, CA., living a life of fitness, mindfulness and sobriety.
The beginning of 2020 was a difficult time, and everyone in the band realized the importance of reconnecting. It was the greatest decision we could have made, and could not be happier with how our latest album is turning out! We began tracking it in June, and have continued to forge West Cliffs’ signature sound.
Thank you to everyone who has been there since the beginning, we can’t tell you how much your support means to us. Stay tuned for some new music coming soon.

New song and video out now!
In 2017, West Cliffs was off to a powerful start. They performed on a 7-week full North American tour, supporting national acts such as: I Set My Friends on Fire, Kingdom of Giants, Conquer Divide, and Circuit of Suns. After selling out of multiple merch orders and gaining the kind of fans that got their band logo tattooed on their neck, they knew they had something special.
Previous members of Arsonists Get All The Girls, Garin Rosen and Sean Richmond, bring energy and heavy chaotic elements to the music they write, while Brit Leigh adds cinematic piano and synth alongside ethereal vocal melodies. Their music has been said to be emotive, dark, and film-score-esque.
The band last released a song in 2018, called "Phantasma". Since that time, the members have lived through and recovered from near death experiences, suicide of a parent, and chemical dependency. The debut of their latest single, "Phantasma II" is an accumulation of the rise from those ashes - remaking a song while reinventing themselves with a much more refined sound. The project itself presents lyrics that speak to the dark times the members collectively experienced. It is the first single off of the 2021 LP, "Allusion". West Cliffs wrote and produced the music and video, with mixing and mastering done by Matt Thomas of Ashtone Audio.
The band plans on continuing to tour, once it is safe to get back out on the road. Pushing forward.
